How To Change Ps3 Icon
I was wondering how can I change my PS3 avatar/icon that my friends and buddy see?
I know you can I just cant find the option to do that
go into account management and its one of the account options. forgot which one exactly but you should be able to find it.
Simple 5 step procedure...
1.press triangle on ur icon.
2.select account manag.
3.select account manag. again.
4.select edit online profile.
5.select new avatar.

yea.. its the option for "Edit online profile" in your "Account management" option 
...
I hope in the upcoming updates they allow us to choose our own avatars. Not just one from their list.
The system looks like you will (eventually) be able to use any picture stored on the ps3 as icons. They just haven't implimented that option yet.

Me too. With the ability to send images to the PS3, it would be great if we could make our own. I guess it would be kinda like making a windows icon though, since you'd have to make 2 sizes since when you hit triangle on a buddy the picture enlarges.
Maybe another reason why the option isn't there already could also be that there would be people who would use some inappropriate pics.

I wanted to upload my OWN avatar, like I saw a guy with a Nathan Hale avatar etc, how can I do this?

Nathan Hale is on the list of sony avatars. You currently can not upload any of your pictures to use for your online profile. You can only set one of your own pictures as your system avatar, when you start your ps3 and log in your user.

how do i do that use my own picture for the system avatar i know that there was something in one of the last updates to do this but anyone know how do i just put my memory stick in and pic a picture will it show the options.??
It's Pretty Easy To Do Goto The Screen Where U Can Make Another User, Highlite Ur System Avatar Press Triangle(i Beleave), And Choose To Use Ur Own Image Saved On The Ps3

umm... 1stly... No. It wouldn't b like making a windows icon. There is no need 4 creating 2 different sizes. The PS3 is capable of resizing ONE image at will, 2 whatever size necessary. It's actually a pretty common thing 2 c on the XMB... If u have ne pictures on ur PS3 then u would b able 2 c what the function would resemble by hovering over a pic and pressing triangle. yes. the picture enlarges. no. no need for 2 seperate images.
as far as the reason y the option isn't available yet, u might b right about that one.. Inapropiate images (pornography, nudity, etc.) always do prove 2 b a problem in similar things. Myspace, MiGente, etc. They'll either decide not 2 add the feature, or take the risk and attempt 2 counter the image users by adding a "Report explicit or offensive material." option and leave it up 2 us 2 decide their fate. Will we b mercyful? Or will we report every user which abuse of Sony's lil gifts of features? Surely their account would then b deleted. in order 2 obtain another name they would have 2 create a new e-mail account somewhere if they currently dont own more than 1. but all the online stats and stuff that the user had would b lost. It would b risky. 4 it would b a sad day when my resistance stats r erased, and they aren't very impressive 2 begin with.
but i WILL say this.. i consider myself a man of honor and dignity. i dont steal, i dont squeel or snitch. but if sony decides 2 promote good community behavior by creating some sort of REWARDS program 4 the 1st user 2 report a content abuser... dont add me 2 ur list if u plan on putting garbage as ur icon. keep that **** under ur Photos (most probably Video) section. u know? lol. but can u imagine? that u report some1 and the next mornin u wake up and u receive a message from a "PSN System Message" saying "We at the PSN would like 2 thank you 4 ur efforts in promoting correct PSN community behavior. As a reward, 200 points have been added 2 ur account." 200 points or like 10 bucks into the account wallet, who cares? It's enough 2 motivate 2 report NEbody. or maybe they' reward with a free download from the store.
Damn... Sony should really hire me. I could give them THOUSANDS of ideas like these. So many of my good PS3 ideas go 2 waste... -.-
what do i have to do with my photoshop picture so that it becomes see trought??

You said firstly and yet there was no secondly. You also got a little excited man, I was just guessing. I didn't convey my statement as fact, I was just adding a perspective. It wouldn't need to be done like a Windows icon, you're right, but damn man tone it down a little. Your heart might burst.
I hope we'll be able to have our own custom avatars but then that would me they would have to do security measures and oversee what we use mainly because you know people would be putting graphic content and "ahem..pornographic images" as avatars.. That may be a reason for not having custom ones.

When I saw this thread I was just going to ask if this would be allowed as people are obviously going to do that!
Goven that its a "family console" there could be some awkward moments if people are allowed to use their own avatars!
Ahh they should just make a filter so you can blur out the offensive avatars LOL... I would like to put some cheeba leafs as mine but not worth it if my acc could b deleted!!
